Bait Al Naboodah opened its doors on November 14, 1995. After its renovation and restoration, Bait Al Naboodah was reopened again on April 08, 2018.

Built in the mid-19th century, this house is a unique model of the marvelous Sharjah architecture. It has been renovated to tell the story of Obaid Al Naboodah and show how the architecture of his house was influenced by the pearl trade.

Bait Al Naboodah originally belonged to the late Obaid bin Eissa Bin Ali Al Shamsi, also known as Al Naboodah. He was a prominent pearl merchant who held commercial ties in India, Africa and France.
 
Al Naboodah lived in this house, built in 1845‎, with his family. The house construction went through several phases as his family grew bigger.

This charming two-storey house is built around a large courtyard with walls made of coral. What makes Bait Al Naboodah architecturally distinguished are the teak columns and the intricate plaster and wood carvings found throughout the house. In addition, the house features malaqaf (wind scoops) that are built into the walls, instead of the traditional barjeel (wind towers).

Bait Al Naboodah is famous for its design, beauty and size. The building embraces local design elements and cultural practices, while incorporating architectural influences from the broader Gulf region. It was one of Sharjah’s largest houses and is a prime example of a grand coastal home.
