Historical record of Masafi
Tourism and antiquities bear witness to the history of its region, located 30 km west of Fujairah, a charming village that inhabits the highest mountains of the UAE. The Area of Masafi derived its name from this castle, which dates back to 1450 A.D., which is built of clay, stones and palm savior, and is located on a small, low-rise hill, which is square in shape and includes one circular tower that closes in its southwest corner and the height of the remaining part of it towards 7 meters and the length of the diameter of the inside 5 meters.
In the castle’s courtyard are several rooms built at different periods, and there are water slides discovered by the Japanese archaeological team just below the castle, which is a few kilometers long and dates back to the end of the first millennium BC.
The castle is a historical record, known by merchants, leaders and rulers for thousands of years, so it carried the details of the life of the Masafi region, since its inception, where people lived and resorted to wars. The citadel remained the main landmark of the historical area and a historical center for its inhabitants until modern times.
The castle overlooks a large number of agricultural oases and constitutes a huge and solid building. The Castle of Masafi confirms that the ancestors and fathers lived on the soil of this good region and baptized it with their own will and their unwavering resolve, as this castle was used for the purposes of defending the area, agricultural land and controlling the corridor between the coast and the inland territories through successive periods of history.
